VIP Tone Completes $3 Million Project with Calaveras Unified School District

Vision 21 Project Overhauled the District’s IP Telephony & Converged Network Infrastructure

Alameda, CA (PRWEB) May 20, 2009 -- VIP Tone, a leading solution provider to K-12 education, today announced the successful completion of a $3 million multi-year contract with Calaveras Unified School District (CUSD) in California, for installing a district-wide managed IP Telephony system along with an upgraded gigabit network infrastructure and a 100 megabit point-to-point wireless WAN across the school sites.

The Vision 21 Project also included a district-wide server consolidation and virtualization infrastructure, at a newly designed and fully managed data center, and the deployment of state of the art network security to protect critical data across the various school locations. With the implementation component of the project completed, VIP Tone is now providing ongoing maintenance and managed services to CUSD.

VIP Tone has also implemented its innovative EduTone Xchange™ District Portal initially deployed across all of the CUSD staff, including school teachers, and will soon be extended to all students and parents. The EduTone Xchange Platform has been recently nominated for two 2009 CODiE Awards for Best K-12 Education Enterprise Solution and Best Identity Management Solution.

"We are excited about the successful implementation of Vision 21's state-of-the-art infrastructure," said Robert Iskander, VIP Tone's Chairman and CEO. "CUSD can now easily deploy new mission-critical applications by leveraging the EduTone Xchange for identity management, single sign-on and automated provisioning. The Calaveras USD IT infrastructure now far exceeds the capabilities and functionality of 99% of the US school districts and is ready to supporting one device per student."

As the Prime Contractor, VIP Tone managed over 100 personnel from 12 subcontractors, including technology vendors like 3COM, APC, DragonWave, Light Speed, Sun Microsystems, VMware, and many others. VIP Tone was able to deliver an end-to-end turnkey solution on time and within budget.

"Vision 21 provides our students and teachers with the best educational tools possible while improving communication between students, teachers, parents and the community at large," said Jim Frost, Calaveras USD Superintendent. "Upgrading the network infrastructure at every school allows us to embrace new ways of teaching and learning that weren't possible before."
